Residency in COVID times
So what’s really changed in my workflow ever since Rona came in and changed the game? Well, pretty much everything. The most common questions I’ve gotten asked by potential applicants or even from our new interns that started in July … Continue reading Residency in COVID times

Intern year is over!
Intern year went by so fast! But I only say that because it’s over now. Hindsight is very different than the day to day struggle. While it was happening, it felt like it would never end. It was such a … Continue reading Intern year is over!

Update: Rotating in the MICU
Happy New Year! Am I the only one who didn’t enter this year with as much umph as 2019? I think it’s because I don’t have much in the way of big life shifts like I did last year. Nevertheless, … Continue reading Update: Rotating in the MICU

Choosing a residency program
As interview season slows down (at least for most specialties), it’s time to start putting together your rank list and deciding on where you want to do your next few years of training! It’s exciting but also a bit nerve-wracking … Continue reading Choosing a residency program

Interview season from a resident’s perspective
First off, I’m free from grips of STEP3!! That 2-day exam was exhausting to say the least. Lucky for me, I had the weekend off afterwards to I could melt my brain for a little while before getting back to … Continue reading Interview season from a resident’s perspective

Updates: New rotation, STEP3 prep…is it nap time yet?
Hey! It’s been a while since I’ve written, I’ve been doing more videos and honestly haven’t been feeling very open lately, which I won’t apologize for (and you shouldn’t either if you ever feel the same way). The past several … Continue reading Updates: New rotation, STEP3 prep…is it nap time yet?

Learning curves
My intern year has been full of learning curves. I can cruise along some of them, but others come pretty close to throwing me off the road. The good thing about intern year is that you don’t really suffer alone. You always (or at least you should) have upper levels watching your back. I’m on internal medicine wards right now and I take comfort in knowing that if I miss something, my upper level will catch it, and if she misses something, my attending will likely catch it. Of course, I try not to miss things. But it never fails … Continue reading Learning curves

Another year older, another year wiser?
A couple days ago I turned 26 years old, and I have to admit this is the first birthday I’ve had where I actually feel like I’m getting old. Like life is about to accelerate away from me. I don’t … Continue reading Another year older, another year wiser?

That escalated quickly
Just as I was getting the ropes of pediatrics down, I was whisked away to the OBGYN department for my second rotation. I think my head is just now slowing down from all the spinning. It’s such a learning … Continue reading That escalated quickly

Med School vs Residency
There’s obviously major differences between being a med student and being a resident, but the transition itself isn’t really talked about that much! Seems like people just go to residency, disappear, and you just see them on social media from time to time. I decided to film a video about my transition thus far, or at least some it. If I talked about everything, we’d be here all day. It hasn’t been as terrible as I thought it would be, but it definitely has been challenging to step into the role of physician. The imposter syndrome still lingers. Even today … Continue reading Med School vs Residency
